Since its inception in November 2004, Blu Salons has been on a remarkable journey, driven by the vision of its founder, Dean Daws. Dean, a businessman, entrepreneur, and a skilled hairdresser and barber, dreamt of offering professional yet affordable hairdressing to the local community.
Starting with a modest capital, Dean worked tirelessly, juggling days as a barber and nights as a hairdresser while keeping the two worlds separate. He reinvested his earnings into renovating and perfecting the salon environment, even adding two sunbeds. Blu’s journey began with Dean himself until he could pass on a small ladies’ client list to his first hired hairdresser.
As Blu Salons quickly gained a loyal clientele, the Cotgrave salon expanded to accommodate growing demand. In 2011, Blu expanded to Bingham, where a rundown salon was transformed into a thriving hub for both ladies and gents’ hairdressing. The success story continued in 2013 with the opening of Blu West Bridgford, offering not only hair services but also beauty therapy in an idyllic setting.
The journey wasn’t without its challenges, and this year saw an unexpected hurdle in West Bridgford. Despite a setback in acquiring Saddlers Hairdressing in Keyworth, Blu Salons persevered, securing a new location at 83 Wolds Drive. This new salon promises to maintain the high standards that Blu Salons is known for.
One key element of Blu Salons’ success lies in its commitment to staff development. The team undergoes continuous training, from new techniques and trends to customer service and communication skills. The salon invests in apprenticeships, empowering staff to excel in their careers. Blu Salons is also proud to be associated with Goldwell Kao and Kerasilk, offering advanced training in color techniques.
Blu Salons believes in nurturing a positive and supportive work environment, where staff learn from each other and grow together. The journey continues as staff progress to become assessors, trainers, salon managers, and even area managers.
